i am very tired and brain dead so this meme from patty seemed totally appropriate for tonight. here are six unspectacular things about me (granted i actually think everything is kind of spectacular in its own way so this was harder than one might think...wink...wink).
1. i have a bachelor's degree in accounting.
2. i grew up in bethany, oklahoma.
3. i love to be in bed by 8:00 p.m. or at least in my p.j.s by then.
4. i prefer popcorn & tortilla chips over chocolate.
5. i am the youngest of 3 children from a middle class family.
6. vanilla milkshakes win out over chocolate every time.
my low energy level (& my rebellious nature) keep me from tagging the requisite six bloggers, so you're on your own to decide if you want to play. please let me know if you do!! thanks for the fun, patty!

Is one of those for me?
won't be doing the meme myself but will comment on your answers ...
"1. i have a bachelor's degree in accounting."
that is interesting to me and somehow not all that surprising. you may not count beans any longer but you do connect dots rather nicely. your eye for detail is so evident.
"2. i grew up in bethany, oklahoma."
does this mean that you have a southern drawl? this is the one thing about blogging that fascinates me ... hearing someone's voice without hearing someone's voice.
"3. i love to be in bed by 8:00 p.m. or at least in my p.j.s by then."
a kindred spirit here, lucy! sans the p.j.s *smile* i am much more of a morning gal myself. when the air has gone out of me at the end of the day ... attempts at resuscitation are not recommended.
"4. i prefer popcorn & tortilla chips over chocolate."
wow ... this is scary. i've never met someone whose preference is the same as mine in this area. chocolate is highly overrated as far as i'm concerned. i've been known to make chips and salsa a meal ... why even popcorn has been my meal of choice a time or two.
"5. i am the youngest of 3 children from a middle class family."
curious ... same sex or different amongst you? i am the youngest of two (i have an older sister).
"6. vanilla milkshakes win out over chocolate every time."
i like all the radically different flavors of vanilla. i can't recall when the last time was that i had a milkshake though.
peace during this second leg of soltura ...

Six Unspectacular Things About Me:
1. I very seldom get dressed up or "fix" my hair (tho I usually wear the "bare minimum" of makeup) Whenever I do, people often tend to comment and are surprised.
2. I love to be in my PJ's, and ready for bed by 9 p.m., if it is at all humanly possible. I am definitely a "morning person"!
3. I usually prefer popcorn over chocolate (now that I am on "the other side" of fertility).
4. I am the only child of my parents. My mom never had more children (go figure), but my dad had 5 more after me, with
2 different women. It's a "complex" family unit. My son has an aunt who is 9 yrs younger than he is! :)
5. My first "real job" was in a shoe store, at the age of 14.
6. I dressed up as "Pipi Longstocking" one Halloween, when I was in my late 20's.
OK, here goes:
1. I was born in Amarillo, Texas but my home state is Minnesota.
2. I'm a descendent of a long line of farmers, teachers, preachers and scoundrels. There is not a single ancestor of celebrity or royalty anywhere in sight ( I don't count one roue who was an early film actor.)
3. A short afternoon nap is a requirement.
4. I'm a wine snob, an ignorant one but a snob nonetheless.
5. In twenty years of owning a sailboat I never owned or learned to set a spinnaker.
6. Worst of all, I never learned the multiplication tables.
patty--of course!
laure (anon)--my southern drawl is a bit muted due to both my mother's diligence at us not sounding like we were from "the sticks" and the fact that i have lived in the NW for nearly 20 years. HOWEVER, get me excited about something or have me talk with some southern friends and i have been told it becomes more noticeable.
i have one sister and one brother. they are 14 and 10 years older than i, so at times i felt like an only child.
popcorn is one of my favorite meals! and i can't actually remember the last time i ordered a milkshake, but i know it was vanilla :-)
i appreciate your curiosity!!
kristin--i think your #4 comes darn close to being bumped from the "unspectacular" category. it certainly is interesting!!! and confusing at times, i might imagine.
cp--you are a man of many sides!!! no multiplication tables, huh? you fit right in with the calculator generation. why would we need to memorize that stuff?!?!??!?!?
I love to be in bed early too … prefer ‘crunchy snacks’ to ‘sweets’ … and choose vanilla over chocolate almost every time. I’m not going to take this one on because Mama Zen tagged me for Six Quirky Things on Monday and I shared today in my Whimsical Wednesday post at Small Reflections. I would never have pegged you for an ‘accountant’ nor for being from Oklahoma … but I’m the youngest of 3 from a lower-middle class family.
Hugs and blessings,
storyteller--i have a hard time envisioning myself as an accountant from oklahoma!!!
