For some reason this made me laugh out loud today and has stayed with me most of the afternoon. It seemed so simple and profound all at once. I'd love to know what you think.
"Hallo, Rabbit," Pooh said, "is that you?"
"Let's pretend it isn't," said Rabbit, "and see what happens."

Oh I LOVE it. So much potential!
POTENTIAL (& possibility). yes, that's it!
I laughed out loud :) love this.
Happy day today!
Laughed out loud too. Room for all kinds of "combinations and permutations" as someone used to say (but of course I can't remember who, and maybe it wasn't even really him/her). :)
Needs more character development. What might Rabbit's motivation have been? Does Pooh have a serious retinal problem, or is he enteering early dementia? And what is Rabbit hiding? Perhaps Jungian analysis is in order?
The exchange brought me a big smile as did country parson's comment. It also reminds me of the storytelling games my husband and I play where we sometimes begin telling this elaborate story to the other about our secret life. It usually begins with an innocent enough question or observation, like this telephone pole on the corner of Denny that looks like it was chewed by something large, which somehow prompted me to tell my husband about my secret identity as a giant killer beaver hunter. We had fun with embellishing that one for several weeks. (ok, probably a lot more than you were looking for in response!) :-)
thank you all for the fabulous creative responses from this short little vignette. what of our "secret lives"??? hmmmm....
