day

"And then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk to bloom." --Anais Nin

Continuing through the cycle of the hours and the breath started here, I pause after the inhale of dawn and survey what greets me in the fullness of the day. Multiple images surface in this season: standing at the edge of a high dive - clinging to the open door of an airplane - arms spread wide at the peak of a mountain top. In each case, I hold my breath. I am ready to jump and anything is possible. Will I dare to risk what lies before me? Will I accept the risk to bloom and reach further?

The pause at the top of the inhale speaks to me of fullness and risk. I'd love to know... what does it say to you?

In the amazing way of the Universe, that is the SECOND mention of that particular quote to me, in the space of about an hour. This has very much been my situation for the past few weeks--am I going to stay here in this place, or am I going to step forward? I'm stepping forward...

This time is new to me and I will take all the time it needs to be savored.

As to the breath, it takes me back to yoga, India, and this space within me that seems to expand more and more and allows me to watch the goings on within.

Thank you for the invitation to soar.

This one says: Confidence, full of life, able to dive in and come back up smiling. Nice place to be.

Lucy,
When I am heavy of heart, and feel constricted, there is a
breathing exercise I do, with a helpful gain in holding the breath in order to prolong the exchange of oxygen for nitrogen, and then when you breathe out you can do a "bamboo breath," which is named after the intervals in bamboo, a sort of hard, whooo, whooo, whooo, as many times as you want the count to be, I do:
inbreath = for the count of 5
hold breath = for the count of 10
outbreath = 5 hard bamboo breaths

Your collage and the images that enter your head remind me of a Hafiz poem that I have returned to over and over again in the past few days.

I rarely let the work "No" escape
From my mouth
Because it is so plain to my soul
That god has shouted, "Yes!Yes! Yes!"
To every luminous movement in Existence.
Hafiz

May blessing be upon all of your hours.
