Me and My Shadow

"Who are you?" said the Caterpillar...
"I - I hardly know, Sir, just at present," Alice replied rather shyly, "at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have changed several times since then."
--Lewis Carroll Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Discoveries from a recent photo journey. These images were taken in preparation to facilitate a group of women in an exploration of light and shadow. I co-lead this group with the lovely Christine who has graciously dedicated her poetry party this week to me. My offering can be found here.

The cat's tail moves in perfect harmony with its shadow. Does my shadow move in perfect harmony to me?

I will see what I can do in terms of a photo journey! Interestingly, I very recently discovered how to use drop shadows in Photoshop. You probably know the effect I'm talking about, when you isolate an image then create a shadow around it so the image has no background, just a shadow. I've been struck by how huge a difference that simple adjustment makes, how much it defines and sets off the image, makes it more important.

Our shadows define our light.

Great photos! I don't know if I'll work in the shadow thing prior to our road trip of next week - but I certainly enjoyed these:)
