"I am a tear of the sun." --Lawrence Ferlinghetti from the poem, "Autobiography"
While traveling this week, I learned that a young friend & coworker of mine died suddenly due to complications with a brain aneurysm. It is so hard to understand when anyone dies, but especially those who seem to go "too soon." Allyson Thrift would have turned 34 years old tomorrow. Today I dedicated my journey and adventures to her. It was a day filled with tears and delight. I hope she would have liked it. These are for you, Ally.

I grieve with you. thank you.
I'm very sorry to hear that Ally died. This is a beautiful tribute.
I'm so sorry...
Beautiful tribute to your friend. So sorry to hear the news. Gorgeous photos. (and really, I'm so sorry I got the dates wrong and didn't realise you're here NOW - about five different friends are here in March and it is confusing trying to keep up w/ who's here when, etc.)
Allyson would have loved this. Thank you. - A North Carolina friend and former coworker
This post brought tears to my eyes. These pics are wonderful, especially the silhouetted bird one.
Thanks you Allyson was a wonderful person that I really miss-Bill (I was dating Allyson at the time)
Here it is many months later and I am finding out about Allyson's passing through a Google search of all things. Allyson was my most significant college friend and she stood by me in a very challenging time in my life. I have a beautiful photo album that she made me containing our many photographs, inspirational poetry and bible verses. I am so completely sad to hear about this loss. She meant the world to me. I have so many memories of her smile and positive energy and will never forget her.
corey--
i am so sorry to learn you have just heard of allyson's death in this odd way. you have described her well with "her smile and positive energy". i only had the privilege of knowing her a short while, but she is someone i will not easily forget either.
thank you for commenting and i am so sorry for your loss.
peace,
Allyson and I were co-workers who became good friends. She did a lot to help me through a painful divorce 10 years ago. We lost touch for the most part when she moved to Seattle to go to grad school. I am just learning of her death and it saddens me greatly. She was a beautiful person. I am very thankful to have known her and to have been able to call her friend.
